Common Cause of Dog ER Visits – Pancreatitis

With Thanksgiving quickly approaching, here’s an important reminder from your friends at VUCC.

Feeding your dog a fatty meal (sharing Thanksgiving leftovers anyone?) can cause a painful condition in your dog called pancreatitis. This is one of the most common Holiday veterinary emergencies.

Pancreatitis is a very painful condition. Dogs often will vomit, will have tummy pain and may have diarrhea. Pancreatitis can become severe and require hospitalization. Sometimes, it can be life threatening.
